ATTACK ON POLICE STATION "attack on the state": popcru

On Wednesday February 21, a gang of gunmen charged into the Engcobo police station in Eastern Cape, and killed three officers in a hail of bullets. Police estimated that between 15 and 20 gunmen were involved. The gang looted the firearms safe and took the officers` guns. The suspects made off with a police van, taking with them two policemen who were later found dead with multiple bullets wounds. The gang also shot and killed a retired soldier near the police station.

During the attack on the station, two ATMs near the station were robbed with the use of drills and grinders. The police believe that the two incidents are related. The Police and Civil Rights Union consider the attack on the Ngcobo police station a "direct attack on the state". The union urged community members to share information which could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The career of being Police officer will be in shortage or very few people will want to be a police. This will happen because of the police murders which we hear each and every day in the news
. Police will not do they work because they are afraid that they will be hunted and murdered by the criminals. The community we are living in is not safe at all if people can rob the police station where we were suppose to be safe where will we run to?

  1. I think Nathi Mthethwa should give tough training to students that are willing to be part of police service , or the state should just hire companies like FALCON to end this crime .

  3. The police department is no longer the place we would run to and feel safe , as it is also victimized by the big time gangsters with help of fraudulent officers. I believe that the new Policer minister Bheki Cele will lay a firm approach to restore the dignity of the South African Police Service.
